This week I decided to research the effect mediation has on mental health. While I have noticed a different in my own mental health I wanted to see if that was a common result in data. I used the UVic library database to find an article. This article compiled data from several studies to find commonalities and comparisons. I found it interesting that mindfulness programs were the most common form of meditation used for stress/anxiety.  The data showed improvements in the patients overall mental health. Meditation can also benefit patients who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), chronic pain, sleep disturbances, high blood pressure, diabetes, and binge eating disorders. I found this article to be very informative and a good read for anyone who wants to see evidence for meditation.
